El segmento F es un segmento de automóviles que se ubica por encima del E. Estos vehículos miden por lo menos 5,00 m y típicamente son más potentes, lujosos y costosos que los de segmentos anteriores. Un automóvil de turismo del segmento F casi siempre tiene carrocería sedán. Algunas formas alternativas de nombrarlos son «berlina de lujo», «automóvil suntuoso» y «automóvil de representación». Por lo general, los turismos están diseñados pensando en el confort de los pasajeros más que en el del conductor. Algunos modelos presentes en el mercado actual son los Mercedes-Benz Clase CLS, Mercedes-Benz Clase S y Honda Legend, el Chevrolet Caprice,Chevrolet Impala, el BMW Serie 6, el BMW Serie 7, el Lincoln MKS, el Cadillac DTS, el Audi A7, el Audi A8, el Aston Martin Rapide, el Jaguar XJ, el Cadillac STS, el Lexus LS, el Maserati Quattroporte, el Volkswagen Phaeton,los Roll-Royce, los Bentley Flyng Spur y Azure (y su variante, el Brooklands), el Kia K9, el Hyundai Equus y el Porsche Panamera. Un automóvil todoterreno equivalente en tamaño a un turismo del segmento F se suele denominar "todoterreno grande"; por lo general, tienen tres filas de asientos y un maletero más grande que el de todoterrenos más pequeños, como el Audi Q7, el Hyundai Trajet, el Lexus LX, el Cadillac Escalade, el Lincoln Navigator, el Range Rover y el Honda Pilot y el Honda Ridgeline.

Luxury vehicle is a marketing term for a vehicle that provides luxury — pleasant or desirable features beyond strict necessity — at increased expense (see luxury goods). The term suggests a vehicle with higher quality equipment, better performance, more precise construction, comfort, higher design, technologically innovative modern, or features that convey an image, brand, status, or prestige, or any other 'discretionary' feature or combination of them. The term is also broad, highly variable and relative. It is a perceptual, conditional and subjective attribute that may be comprehended differently by different people; "what may be luxury for one may be premium for another." In contemporary usage, the term may be applied to any vehicle type— including sedan, coupe, hatchback, station wagon, and convertible body styles, as well as to minivans, crossovers, or sport utility vehicles and to any size vehicle, from small to large—in any price range. Moreover, there is a convergence in the markets and a resulting confusion of luxury with high price: where there may have been a clear difference in price between luxury and others, there is no longer an absolute separation between premium and luxury, with what may be premium brands now more expensive than the equivalent so-called luxury ones.
