Una sociedad agraria, también denominada sociedad agrícola, se refiere a cualquier sociedad cuya economía se basa en producir y mantener cultivos y tierras de cultivo. Otra manera de definir una sociedad agraria es viendo la cantidad total de producción en una nación. En una sociedad agraria cultivar la tierra es la fuente principal de riqueza. Tal sociedad puede reconocer otros medios de subsistencia y hábitos de trabajo pero hace hincapié en la importancia de la agricultura y la ganadería. Las sociedades agrarias han existido en varios lugares del mundo ya hace 10.000 años y continúa existiendo hoy. Han sido la forma más común de organización socioeconómica para la mayor parte de la historia humana registrada.

An agrarian society (or agricultural society) is any society whose economy is based on producing and maintaining crops and farmland. Another way to define an agrarian society is by seeing how much of a nation's total production is in agriculture. In an agrarian society cultivating the land is the primary source of wealth. Such a society may acknowledge other means of livelihood and work habits but stresses the importance of agriculture and farming. Agrarian societies have existed in various parts of the world as far back as 10,000 years ago and continue to exist today. They have been the most common form of socio-economic organization for most of recorded human history.
