El common-law marriage (matrimonio de derecho consuetudinario), también llamado en inglés common law marriage, informal marriage o marriage by habit and repute, es una forma de estatus interpersonal, en algunos países anglosajones, en el que un hombre y una mujer se encuentran legalmente casados, aunque no sea ni por el matrimonio civil, ni por cualquier matrimonio religioso, sino por vivir juntos presentándose como esposos (en algunas jurisdicciones con más requisitos). Se suele confundir este término utilizándolo para indicar una relación interpersonal que no está reconocida por el derecho. De hecho, un matrimonio de derecho consuetudinario tiene el mismo efecto obligatorio y vinculante que los otros matrimonios reglamentados solo que comienza de otra forma. Un matrimonio puede comenzar así en algunos estados de los Estados Unidos. En Escocia se reconocía el matrimonio by cohabitation with habit and repute (por cohabitación con costumbre y reputación) hasta 2006. En Canadá se reconocen las common-law partners (parejas de derecho consuetudinario), y en algunas provincias como Ontario se les consideran esposos. Ambos pueden ser del mismo sexo. En Israel se reconocen las common-law partners que también pueden ser del mismo sexo. En Australia se reconocen las de facto relationships (relaciones de hecho), domestic relationships (domésticas), personal relationships (personales), según el estado, que son casi iguales al matrimonio.

Common-law marriage, also known as sui juris marriage, informal marriage, marriage by habit and repute, or marriage in fact is a legal framework in a limited number of jurisdictions where a couple is legally considered married, without that couple having formally registered their relation as a civil or religious marriage. The original concept of a "common-law marriage" is a marriage that is considered valid by both partners, but has not been formally recorded with a state or religious registry, or celebrated in a formal religious service. In effect, the act of the couple representing themselves to others as being married, and organizing their relation as if they were married, acts as the evidence that they are married. The term common-law marriage has wide informal use, often to denote relations which are not legally recognized as common-law marriages. The term common-law marriage is often used colloquially or by the media to refer to cohabiting couples, regardless of any legal rights that these couples may or may not have, which can create public confusion both in regard to the term and in regard to the legal rights of unmarried partners.
