Mishima cattle (見島牛 Mishima ushi) are a breed of cattle used in beef production. Mishima cattle are small (usually 1-1.2 m tall) and originate from tiny Mishima Island outside of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Unlike most other Japanese cattle breeds, Mishima cattle has not been cross-bred with Western cattle. Mishima cattle and Kuchinoshima cattle are the last two of remaining breeds of pure wagyu today.
