    The Kongo people (Kongo: Esikongo (singular: Mwisikngo, also Bakongo (singular: Mukongo)) are a Bantu ethnic group, primarily defined as the speakers of Kikongo (Kongo languages, Zone H.10). They live along the Atlantic coast of Africa, between about 4° and 9° southern latitude (Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo to Luanda, Angola). In 1975, the Kongo population was reported as 10,220,000.
