    Communication (from Latin commūnicāre, meaning "to share") is the act of conveying intended meanings from one entity or group to another through the use of mutually understood signs and semiotic rules. The basic steps of communication are: 1. \n* The forming of communicative intent. 2. \n* Message composition. 3. \n* Message encoding and decoding. 4. \n* Transmission of the encoded message as a sequence of signals using a specific channel or medium. 5. \n* Reception of signals. 6. \n* Reconstruction of the original message. 7. \n* Interpretation and making sense of the reconstructed message. The study of communication can be divided into: \n* Information theory which studies the quantification, storage, and communication of information in general; \n* Communication studies which concerns human communication; \n* Biosemiotics which examines the communication of organisms in general. The channel of communication can be visual, auditory, tactile (such as in Braille) and haptic, olfactory, Kinesics, electromagnetic, or biochemical. Human communication is unique for its extensive use of abstract language.
