    Ātman, attā or attan in Buddhism refers to the concept of self, and is found in Buddhist literature's discussion of the concept of non-self (Anatta). Although the Buddha argued that no permanent, unchanging "self" can be found, some Buddhist schools, sutras and tantras present the notion of an atman (/ˈɑːtmən/) or permanent "Self", although mostly referring to an Absolute and not to a personal self.
